Handcrafted soy wax candles behave differently than paraffin. Follow these tips to enjoy an optimal clean burn.
Before lighting your candle, trim the wick to about 0.5 cm. This prevents the flame from getting too high, producing black soot, or consuming the wax too quickly.
The first time you light your candle, let it burn for 2 to 3 hours, until the entire top surface of wax melts completely. This prevents 'tunneling'.
Do not blow out your soy candle. Use a metal snuffer or smother the flame by placing the jar's lid. This avoids shifting the wick or producing heavy smoke that ruins the aroma.
